Sports Premium
Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
Sports premium funding is provided by the government directly to primary head teachers aimed at improving physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. A summary of the aims and key expenditure is outlined below:
- Ensuring high quality teaching for all through the hiring of specialist sports coaches. In addition to quality provision, this will also develop teachers’ knowledge and expertise.
- Throughout the year, all children will receive lessons in street dance and games delivered by specialist coaches.
- Teachers will take part in lessons for their own professional development.
- To increase the proportion of children who can swim 25m, a swimming pool will be introduced to the school grounds for 3 weeks in the summer term. This will allow younger children the opportunity to improve their water confidence and older children to develop their swimming strokes and safety in water.
- Provide all Y6 pupils, including those who are eligible for FSM pupils with the skills to ride a bike, ensuring they have appropriate, safe equipment (provided for free) to do so.
- Provide Whole School with a variety of workshops in order to encourage exposure and love of physical exercise.
